When it comes to Harry Potter, I truly believe the story should never end. So when I first heard about an Italian fan made movie about the rise of Voldemort, I couldn’t be happier. Proud Slytherin student over here!
Weeks passed by and then the day finally arrived. Voldemort: Origins of the Heir was available on YouTube (woop woop!). 53 minutes of pure magic. Or so they promised.
As a potterhead I was a bit skeptic. The story wasn’t written by J.K. Rowling and how good could a fan made movie really be? Visions of a horrible screenplay, some wannabe actors and dramatic special effects came to mind.
But… I have to say the movie didn’t disappoint after all! I loved the story, special effects and magical props. Was there room for improvement? Sure. As the movie was sometimes entirely filmed in Italian, the English dubbing seemed a bit off now and then. As were some of the directors choices. But overall? A must see for every Hogwarts alumnus as myself if you ask me.
Special shout out to Stefano Rossi who puts down a more than fair Voldemort, or should I say Tom Riddle in this one?
Curious about the movie? It’s still available on YouTube, for free. Enjoy!
